. Elections start on the Monday the 20th of April and End on Friday the 24th of April at midnight. Positions available are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Student Representative. Follow excerpt from our bylaws has information on the positions:Section One, Eligibility Active members who will have been enrolled in degree programs at the BAC for a minimum of one (1) year prior to taking office are eligible to sit on the Executive Board. Board members must be in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.5 or better at the time they run for office and must remain in good standing throughout their term. Board members who fail to maintain eligibility or perform the duties of their elected office (see Section Two below) shall, by due process of the Executive Committee, be retired from office; vacancies are to be filled as hereinafter provided. Section Two, Board Member Terms and Duties The student members of the Atelier Executive Board shall be the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and 3-5 Council Representatives. The term of office shall be one (1) year and no person may serve simultaneously in more than one position. Should an Executive Board post be vacated before the end of this term, the Executive Committee shall appoint a suitable replacement by special vote. The President shall be the head of the Atelier Executive Board and act as spokesperson and representative of Atelier at all meetings, organizations, and committees unless another member is delegated such authority by the President. Pronouncements made by the President shall not obligate Atelier unless the obligation or commitment has been specifically authorized by Board action. The President shall attend all board meetings of the BAC and all School Faculty meetings unless authority has been delegated otherwise. A report on Faculty and BAC activities will be made at each regular meeting of the Atelier. The President shall hold regular meetings with the Vice-President of Student Affairs. These meetings shall occur monthly, either before or after the general meeting, or otherwise at the discretion of the President. The President shall attend all regular meetings of the Atelier. The Vice President shall possess all the powers and duties of the President in the event of absence, disability, refusal, or failure of the President to act as outlined above. In addition, the Vice President shall oversee all Atelier committees and recognized student organizations. The Vice President shall appoint Representatives to chair Atelier Committees. The Vice President shall serve as chair of the Elections Committee; in the event that the Vice President wishes to run for a Board position, s/he shall delegate the chair position to a member of the Executive Board who is not running. A report will be made at each regular meeting on the activities of the Atelier committees and student organizations. The Vice President shall coordinate all activities relating to membership services and drives. The Vice President shall attend all regular meetings of the Atelier. The Treasurer shall have charge and exercise general supervision of financial affairs and keep the records and books or account thereof. The Treasurer shall prepare budgets, collect amounts due, and receipt for and have custody of Atelier funds and monies, and make disbursements thereof and shall have custody of its instruments and papers involving finance and financial commitments. He/she shall conduct the correspondence relating to this office and shall perform all duties usual and incidental to his office. The Treasurer shall provide statements of account for and attend all regular meetings of the Atelier. The Treasurer shall not be personally liable for any loss of money or funds, nor any decrease in capital, surplus, income, or reserve of any fund or account resulting from any acts performed in good faith in conducting the usual business of the office. When a new treasurer takes office, the retiring Treasurer shall turn over all the records and books of accounts and all monies and papers belonging to the Atelier that are in his/her custody or possession. The incoming Treasurer shall check the same and, if found correct shall give the retiring Treasurer a receipt thereof as a complete release from any liability thereafter with respect to the aforementioned. The Secretary shall act as recording and corresponding secretary of the Executive Committee. The Secretary shall take minutes of each meeting and prepare the previous meeting’s minutes for distribution and review by the members attending each meeting. Upon a vote during a meeting, the Secretary shall record the votes cast in the minutes. The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining all non-financial information in the Atelier Office and for the posting of materials and information of the Atelier. The Secretary shall attend each regular meeting of the Atelier. Section Three, Other Positions Representatives
shall be elected to represent the student body as a whole.
Representatives are appointed as committee chairpersons by the Vice
President; Representative are not limited to how many committees they
can chair or how many they may belong to. As a Committee Chairperson,
the duties of a Representative include organizing student interest,
maintaining a list of members in their respective committee as well as
organizing events/fundraisers to better establish your committee in the
community. Representatives may also be assigned additional
responsibilities by vote of the Executive Board. Representatives shall
attend each regular meeting of Atelier. |
